Datacenter Proxies – Why Is It Important To Use Them?

What they are

IPs hosted on servers in a datacenter and announced by a hosting provider's ASN. They're created in bulk, cost very little, and deliver more bandwidth than almost any workload needs.

Where they shine

Speed-critical work. Nothing beats them on latency and throughput.

High-volume, low-sensitivity fetching. Public datasets, sitemaps, RSS, documentation, file downloads.

Your own infrastructure. Uptime checks, synthetic monitoring, load testing, QA against staging environments.

Cost control. When a job doesn't need trust, paying residential rates for it is simply an expensive habit.

Where they fail

Any site that scores the network. Large retailers, social platforms, ticketing, sneaker sites and ad networks all treat hosting ranges with suspicion, and many block them outright. No amount of rotation fixes an IP type the target has already decided about.

Shared or exclusive?

Shared datacenter IPs are cheap and fine for anonymous fetching. Exclusive ones cost more but carry only your history — worth it whenever the address is tied to an account or a whitelist.

Using them well

Rotate across a decent-sized list rather than hammering a few addresses. Keep concurrency per IP moderate. Watch for subnet-wide blocks: if several addresses in the same /24 fail together, the target has blocked the range, not the IPs.

The honest summary

Datacenter proxies aren't a weaker version of residential — they're a different tool. Use them for everything that doesn't check, and spend your residential budget only where it changes the outcome. That split is what keeps a proxy bill proportional to the work being done.
