What this free proxy checker does
The Rainproxy proxy checker is a free online tool that tells you whether a proxy actually works, how fast it is and how much it reveals about you. Paste a list of host:port entries, or host:port:user:pass, and every proxy is probed for real: we open a TCP connection, send an HTTP request through it and measure the round trip. There is no account, no download and no limit on how often you run it.
How to check if a proxy is working
Paste one proxy per line and press check. A proxy is marked live when the full request completes through it and dead when the connection is refused, times out or returns a protocol error. Because the check is a real request rather than a ping, a proxy that answers on the port but cannot actually forward traffic is still reported as dead, which is what you want before feeding a list into a scraper.

How to read the results
Each row shows the outcome of one probe. Latency is the TCP connect plus the time to the first byte of the response, which predicts scraping throughput far better than an ICMP ping. The exit IP is the address the target site actually sees, resolved to country, region, city, ISP and ASN, so you can catch a proxy sold as residential in one country that exits from a datacenter network somewhere else.
- Elite: no header reveals that a proxy is in use
- Anonymous: the target knows a proxy is involved but not your IP
- Transparent: your original IP is forwarded and the proxy is useless for anonymity
Test a proxy against your own target site
A proxy can be fast and elite and still be blocked by the one site you care about. Enter your target domain and the checker sends the request through each proxy to that host, reporting the status code it returned. That turns a generic "is it alive" list into an answer about whether these proxies can be used for your actual job, whether that is a search engine, a marketplace, a sneaker site or a social platform.
When you need better proxies
Free and scraped proxy lists are usually shared, already flagged and dead within hours, which is exactly what the results will show you. If most of your list comes back transparent, datacenter or blocked, the problem is the source of the proxies rather than your code.
